In the Civil Case of Barr. Maxwell Opara VS Abuja Electricity Distribution Company Plc & 6 Ors with Suit No: CV/1876/19 Sitting at Court 50 at Federal High Court Abuja.

The Human Right Activist, Barr, Maxwell is praying the FHC for the following reliefs against the Respondent as follow (i) A Declaration of this Honourable court that the Defendant's act of billing the Plaintiff on estimated billing and/or fixed charges is illegal, wrongful and condemnable. (ii) A Declaration that the Defendant is only entitled to bill the Plaintiff based on energy charges in accordance with Multi-Year Tariff Order 2 as revised and approved by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (N. E. R. C) in accordance with the Electricity Power sector Reform Act, 2005. (iii) An Order directing the Defendant to repay and/or refund to the Plaintiff all the money the Defendant bill & collected from the Plaintiff that is not approved by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (N. E. R. C) in accordance with the Electricity Power sector Reform Act, 2005. (iv) An Order directing the Defendant to pay the plaintiff the sum of N50,000,000.00 (Fifty Million Naira) only as general for breach of contract. (V)N1,000,000.00 (One Million Naira) cost of the suit.
